"Actually.. long time ago I have deep thought about embracing Islam. Indeed I can feel that Islam is a very peaceful religion, like the way it teaches followers to be humble and finding the balance in daily life."
One of my Chinese friend told me so.
However he's not a Muslim, also the very first time he message me briefly about what he think about Islam.
"What's stopping me from embrace Islam.. is due to some mistrust and betrayal I personally had from some of my 'muslim' friends during business deals. It's frustrating me for quite a while. So I'm just kind of forget about it till your religion status remind me some of my past moments."
I have no clear explanation with his situation.
It's kind of tricky to help him differentiate the 'Islam' holy religion from 'Muslim' that never meant to be perfect, including me myself.
As quoted by Muhammad Abduh (1849 – 11 July 1905):
“I went to the West and saw Islam, but no Muslims; I got back to the East and saw Muslims, but not Islam.”
There are non Muslim who living the spirit of Islam like taking care of cleanliness, applying Justice system, getting rid of corruptions and be trustworthy in business bargains. But they have no faith in One God.
At the mean time there are a few so called 'Muslims' who behave otherwise, yet they are uttering speeches like MashaAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahuakbar.
"I may understand what you briefly talk about, because me myself also went through the same journey as you before embraced Islam. I was confused and live my teenage time without knowing anything about Islam, for fear that I may misguided. Till one day I met a group of friends that truly devoted in Islam, they brought me to take a glance about the basis of Islam, also give me advice like: 'please learn the true spirit of Islam from Qur'an and prophet Muhammad s.a.w. , never let anyone bring you down in finding the true answer in life'."
Hence I messaged my friend:
"Personally I won't put the blame on anyone. Instead it's our choice to find and differentiate the right and wrong from everything we learn about."
Allah states in al-Qur'an,
"And hold fast, all of you together, to the Rope of Allah (i.e. this Quran), and be not divided among yourselves, and remember Allah's Favour on you, for you were enemies one to another but He joined your hearts together, so that, by His Grace, you became brethren (in Islamic Faith), and you were on the brink of a pit of Fire, and He saved you from it. Thus Allah makes His Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.,) clear to you, that you may be guided."
al-Qur'an Verse ( sūrat āl ʿim'rān (The Family of Imrān) 3:103)
